Prayer Request

Anyone that knows me knows that I love me some flowers. Especially lilies! So, do you know what's so special about these lilies?

They came from someone who, until they were delivered, was all but a complete stranger, Amy Carder. As many of you know, I "met" Amy through an online support group called "MOOs" or "Mothers of Omphaloceles". I posted there shortly after finding out about Zoey's omphalocele and Amy answered my post. Her daughter was born with a giant omphalocele. As it turns out, Amy and I had the same group of perinatologists, the same group of pediatric surgeons, delivered at the same hospital and her sweet little Ella had surgery at Cooks, just as Zoey did. Amy and I exchanged several emails and she was very kind (and patient!) to answer my many questions and help ease my fears. So, naturally I emailed Amy to let her know that Zoey had arrived.

The next day, a nurse came into my room at the hospital to tell me that "an Amy Carder" was there to visit. Amy had taken time out of her day to come visit us at the hospital (and bearing flowers to boot!) to see how Zoey was doing and how I was holding up. I don't have the words to express how touched I was by this. In this day and age, when every one is so busy and tied up in their own lives, it isn't often that you hear of someone caring so much about a stranger.

Well, now prayer warriors...it is our turn.

Amy's daugher, Ella, is having an extensive and involved surgery tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. Amy explains all that is involved on her blog. Please go read it and keep little Ella and this sweet family in your prayers tonight and tomorrow. Please pray for the team of doctors that will be performing the surgery, that God will be their eyes and hands as they repair Ella's shoulder. As a parent, it is a terrifying thing to hand your child over to have surgery so please pray for strength and peace for Amy and her husband, Rick.

Amy, we will be thinking of and praying for you all tomorrow. I can't wait to hear the GREAT news about Ella's surgery. She is, has been, and will remain in God's hands.
